Band Music of the ConfederacyVolume 4 |
In the winter of 1863, near Fredericksburg, Virginia, the Civil War briefly paused. During this time, as the rumble of artillery and the rattle of musketry died away, bands of both sides extended the contest in concerts. One of the participating bands was the 11th Mississippi Infantry Regimental Band, said by many to be the best in the Confederate army. This album highlights much of their original music, along with selections from other band books that found their way south. It is played on a typically nondescript and varied collection of instruments, exactly as used by most Confederate bands.
