The links below lead to pages listing instruments by type with the number of listings in parentheses.  Marked instruments have the maker in boldface.  Dates for unmarked instruments are approximations from the style and design.  Instruments designated "Available from" are owned by band members and are available for performances by the 1st Brigade Band and are insured and maintained by HMMF.  Instruments designated "On loan" have been placed on long-term loan to the Foundation.  They are insured, restored, maintained and used by the 1st Brigade Band, but remain the property of the owner.  Instruments designated as "Memorials" are supported by a substantial donation to the Foundation (in cash or in kind).

Anyone not familiar with the many different types of brass instruments and valve configurations of the 1860's civilian and military  bands can get a short pictorial explanation  HERE.  Otherwise, go to the list below and see instruments by category.
