Elaborate tack pattern. Red counter hoops. Captured by the 2d Reg. Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry on July 1st, 1863, at Gettysburg, PA.

Nominal Size: 22 x 22 with tack pattern.  Shell of walnut with quarter-sawn oak counter hoops. Iron plate and rivets repairing break through one of the holes - probably done by a blacksmith. Label reads: John Pollard Manufacturer of DRUMS and...all...kinds...of Musical Instruments  No. 209 Fulton St., New York, NY.  With old or original stuffed leather beater. Early to mid 19th century.

Nominal Size: 26 x 21. Painted eagle on nailed shell of chestnut or hickory with rough oak counter hoops made from different lengths of wood. Vent hole decoration of turned horn. Probably a hand made instrument by a carpenter or other artisan mid 19th century. Extra holes in counter hoops drilled after repair with iron plate and copper rivets over break through one of the holes. Original canvas over rope carry strap with handmade iron snap hooks. Original stuffed white kid covered beater.
